Tour Guide, Tour Director

Coastal Food Tours is looking for outgoing and passionate tour guides and directors to lead a variety of different tours primarily in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

As Culinary Tour Guide you lead 3.5 hour walking and motorcoach based tours, as well as various culinary activities and events. Tours include public weekend events, private high end corporate events, brewery tours, cooking demonstrations, etc.

Tour guides will share information about the history and culture of the many areas that the group travels through. While at the various venues, the tour guide will be knowledgeable and assist the guests wherever needed in order to ensure a great experience. The size of tour groups will range between five to hundreds of guests. As a tour director, you may expect to give motorcoach tours lasting 2-3 hours, or up to a full day.

This is a part time position where flexible schedules are a huge advantage, as we often run tours throughout the week, including days, nights, weekdays and weekends. Applicants should have extensive knowledge of the Hampton Roads area, its history, and the city’s culinary offerings. Candidates who are natives to the area are a plus.

We offer a comprehensive training program to ensure you possess the knowledge needed to run culinary tours and events with ease.

This is a part Time Position with potential full time opportunities that can occur within 3-6 months

Qualifications

  • Food/Culinary Interests and Knowledge
  • Restaurant industry experience a plus
  • Tour guide industry experience or public speaking experience a plus
